The 2008 Global Peace Index survey ranks Denmark as the second most peaceful country in the world, after Iceland.Denmark was also ranked as the least corrupt country in the world in the 2008 Corruption Perceptions Index, sharing a top position with Sweden and New Zealand. According to a new report released by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development, a Paris-based group of 30 countries with democratic governments that provides economic and social statistics and data, happiness levels are highest in northern European countries.
The top three countries are Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands. Outside Europe, New Zealand and Canada landed at Nos. 8 and 6, respectively. Switzerland placed seventh and Belgium placed tenth.
