Google is one of the most extraordinary success stories of the past decade. This highly popular search engine was started by two young and brilliant stanford PhDs, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, in 1995. At the time Internet was a new buzz word and Yahoo and Altavista were two main search engines. These two geniuses brainstormed night and day and developed a new algorithm. They were so busy working that when the financers came to issue a cheque they realised they didn’t have a company! Google is a mathematical number which means a hundred zeros on one. The boys were too involved in developing the product to care about success or failure. In fact Larry Page remarked at one point, “We started this company because we were unhappy with the current search technology. If we are successful, that will just be a great side-effect”
