Reader's Digest Wins the Magazine Industry's "Oscar"
May 1, 2009 -- It is the Oscars of the magazine industry. Last night, at the 2009 National Magazine Awards, presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) in New York City, Reader's Digest won the equivalent of "Best Picture." Under the deft leadership of Editor-in-Chief Peggy Northrop, Reader's Digest won in the General Excellence category for magazines of over 2 million circulation. Reader's Digest beat out Time, Real Simple, Martha Stewart Living and National Geographic to win the American Society of Magazine Editors' highest honor.
