The lightning nature of breaking entertainment news is best exemplified by TMZ, which famously broke the story of Michael Jackson's death. "Initially we broke the story that he had entered the hospital, but that wasn't shocking because he went to the hospital for all kinds of things," executive producer Harvey Levin, 59, explains from LA.

"We got a tip that he went into cardiac arrest, and then it went from a ho-hum story to a potentially serious, if not fatal, story. So the fact that he died wasn't from out of the blue. When we broke the story he was dying, we knew it before we published it—we went over and over the information, and we had multiple credible sources that knew." After this, Levin can only say one thing for sure about 2010 prognostications: "It's impossible to predict, and that's what makes it interesting."
